The U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services Office of Inspector General issued a report on August 15, 2007, entitled "Review of Florida Physical Therapist's Medicare Claims for Therapy Services Provided during 2003" and demanded that the physical therapist "refund to the Medicare program $411,781 in unallowable payments for therapy services provided in 2003 and develop quality control procedures to ensure that therapy services are provided and  documented in accordance with Medicare reimbursement requirements."

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Helene Fearon, PT

Helene Fearon is a co-owner of Fearon Physical Therapy in Phoenix, Ariz. and is a principle in the Rehabilitation Consulting & Resources Institute (RCRI), an independent consulting firm focusing on practice management and reimbursement strategies in the outpatient rehabilitation setting. She has more than 28 years of experience as a physical therapist in varied settings. She has worked as a clinician and administrator in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and outpatient clinics. Her current clinical practice focuses on work injury management. She is a consultant and peer reviewer for several payers and peer review organizations, is the current president of the Arizona Board of Physical Therapy, and serves as a member of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association's payer relations committee. She currently is a member of the American Medical Association's (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel. In that role, she represents the needs of non-physician providers in the development and utilization of CPT codes.

Stephen M. Levine, PT, DPT, MSHA
Steve Levine is a principle in the Rehabilitation Consulting & Resources Institute (RCRI), an independent consulting firm focusing on practice management and reimbursement strategies in the outpatient rehabilitation setting. Prior to the development of RCRI, he was involved in the operation and ownership of a private practice in Maryland for more than 18 years. He is a certified peer reviewer through the Maryland Chapter of the APTA. He now resides in south Florida, and his degree in Health Administration facilitates his work as a consultant and advisor to third party payers and regulatory agencies locally and nationally in the areas of coding and relative values, RBRVS, cost containment, fraud and abuse, quality assurance issues, reimbursement strategies for PT services, and PT peer/utilization review. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Physical Therapy Association, serving as Speaker of the House of Delegates.

Registration Details

This seminar is open to currently licensed Physical Therapists and their billing staff. It is also appropriate for Occupational Therapists, PT Assistants, OT Assistants as well as department  and facility administrators and office managers. Registrations are subject to space availability.

Early Registration Fees

APTA Member -- $495
    $50 discount for each additional PT from member's practice

Registration Policies
Registrations will be accepted with accompanying payment (check, VISA, MasterCard or American Express). You may register secure online through the RCRI Seminar web site. Registrants may also fax their registration to the RCRI Seminar office at (303) 694-4869. Registrations may not be split between two or more persons. A confirmation will be sent to all registered participants prior to the session.

Facilities requiring additional time to process checks may include a purchase order on the Registration Form. Please be sure to include a copy of the purchase order with check to ensure proper allocation.

Class size is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. If all spaces are filled, a waiting list will be developed in order of receipt of completed registration form and payment. You will be notified of your wait list status and your registration fee will be fully refunded after the seminar if there are no openings.

Registrations received no later than the deadline for each session will be eligible for the early registration discount fees indicated above. $50 will be added to registrations received after the session's registration deadline.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

All cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the RCRI Seminar Office. Refund requests received by April 25, 2008 will receive one-half refund less a $50 processing fee. There are no refunds after this date or for no-shows. Refunds will be processed 30 days after the event. Substitutions are encouraged.
